| Este trabalho objetivou analisar o teor e a composição do óleo essencial do Cymbopogon nardus, em cinco épocas de colheita no Estado do Tocantins. As colheitas foram realizadas em cinco épocas em intervalos regulares de 28 dias, sendo a primeira aos 56 dias e a última aos 168 dias após transplante. A extração do óleo essencial foi realizada por hidrodestilação e a identificação dos componentes por CG e CG/EM. Os maiores teores de óleo essencial foram obtidos na segunda época de colheita (1,10%) e na última época de colheita (1,07%). Foram identificados vinte e três compostos químicos no óleo essencial. | New coefficients were determined for the weighting term for cloudiness in the Brunt-Penman equation using the rate of solar radiation (RK) in place of the rate of sunshine duration (n/N). The coefficients in the Brutsaert method proposed for daytime in southern Brazil were also tested and adjusted, and the method was selected which gave the more accurate daily results in relation to the original Brunt-Penman equation, for Santa Maria in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (RS). | RESUMO Objetivou-se avaliar a inclusão de betaína na ração de fêmeas suínas no terço final de gestação e na lactação, quanto ao desempenho reprodutivo, composição do leite e avaliação econômica. | The objective of this work was to evaluate bioactive compounds and antioxidant activity of the fruit of strawberry-guava genotypes during maturation, and identify the characteristics that influenced the genetic variability. The fruits were harvested from 15 naturally-occurring genotypes in Areia, Paraíba, Brazil, at the following stages of maturation: Completely Green; Start of Yellow Coloration; Mainly Yellow Coloration and Completely Yellow. | Fruit of the lychee cv. Bengal are approximately 50% peel and seeds, which are discarded. These by-products have antioxidant compounds which are capable of blocking the harmful effects of free radicals in the body. Bioactive compounds (ascorbic acid, beta-carotene, lycopene and phenols) and antioxidant activity were evaluated in different extracts, both fresh and dried at 45 °C, of the skin, pulp and seeds of the lychee, which were subjected to principal component analysis to clarify which of the compounds are responsible for this activity. | ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate biochemical changes in seeds of the pumpkin hybrid, 'Jabras', from fruit harvested at different stages of maturation (15, 30, 45, 60 and 75 days after anthesis). Thirty fruit were harvested at each stage, with the seeds from 15 of the fruit being extracted immediately. The remaining 15 were stored for twenty days in plastic boxes and the seeds extracted after this period. | Blackberry is a notable fruit due to bioactive compounds. However it has a fragile structure, which reduces the consumption in natura. The aim of this study was to evaluate the physical and chemical quality of the cv. Tupy blackberry fruits, produced in an organic system, and coated with emulsions based on cassava starch and water kefir grains stored under refrigeration. | The objective of this study was to use oyster as biofilter to improve the quality of effluent from shrimp farming and to assess its growth performance and body composition.
